Bachelor’s degree program in Biomedical Engineering

Program Description

The Bachelor's Degree Program in Biomedical Engineering at Alnoor University is a specialized academic and engineering program designed to prepare engineers with the knowledge and skills required to design, develop, operate, and maintain medical devices and healthcare systems. The program applies engineering principles and medical sciences to develop technological solutions that contribute to improving healthcare services. It integrates electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, medical sciences, artificial intelligence, biomedical signal processing, and medical image processing, enabling graduates to pursue careers in hospitals, medical device companies, research centers, and healthcare institutions.

Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering (B.Sc.)

  • Level 6 of the Iraqi National Qualifications Framework (INQF), or its equivalent, in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Students are admitted in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the approved admission regulations. 

Requirements for the Award of the Bachelor's Degree:

  • Completion of all required credit hours.
  • Successful completion of all courses.
  • Commitment to university regulations and instructions.
  • Completion of the field training requirements, if applicable.

Prior learning or coursework completed at recognized educational institutions may be credited in accordance with the applicable regulations and instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Alnoor University.

  • By the end of the program, graduates will be able to:

    • Design, develop, and test medical devices and systems in accordance with engineering and medical standards.
    • Operation, maintenance, and calibration of medical devices while ensuring their efficiency and safety.
    • Analysis of biomedical signals and medical images using specialized software.
    • Integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) into Smart Medical Systems.
    • Apply quality standards, patient safety principles, and risk management practices in healthcare environments.
    • Using engineering software and simulation tools in the design of medical systems.
    • Conduct scientific research and prepare technical reports in the field of biomedical engineering.

Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering Program Coordinator

The Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the study plan, monitoring the achievement of the program learning outcomes, ensuring the quality of the program, and developing the curriculum in line with the latest advancements in biomedical engineering and healthcare technology. The Coordinator also facilitates coordination between faculty members and students, supervises laboratories and practical training, and ensures that all program activities are aligned with academic accreditation requirements and the quality assurance policies of Alnoor University.
